In 1993 I went into the insurance business.  At that time I was working for a big Texas Association Health Plan.  I progressed from agent, to managing a team, to managing an area to finally State Management.  My responsibilities varied with each progression upwards and ultimately I was responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, producing and managing teams under me.

After 7 years with one company, I moved to several others, always, at some level, in a management position.  Finally I decided the best situation for me would be to become an independent broker which is what I am today.  I currently market health (individual and small group 2-50), life, long-term care, dental, vision, ancillary insurance products and medicare supplements and advantage plans.  I am also certified to sell on the Federal Marketplace.

In the last 11 years, I have built a business based entirely on referrals from financial planners and other business professionals.

During this time I joined the Central Florida Association of Health Underwriters and the National Association of Health Underwriters.  In the Central Florida branch I became the Media Chair and held that position for 5 years.  I took a few years off but have found myself, once again, the Media Chair.  At the present time, this is a very important position as we are contacted regularly for our input on the current market conditions.

During my tenure as Media Chair, I wrote a column for the Orlando Chamber Magazine.  This lasted for two years.  It was informative, well received and liked while it lasted.   Unfortunately, we lost our funding and that ended the column.  Over the years, I have been interviewed for trade publications, and local media.  Since the opening of the marketplaces, I have been quoted several times in articles on Health Care Reform that have appeared in the Orlando Sentinel.
